Elizabeth Pertner is a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at The George Washington University. Her research focuses on democratization, regime change, and media, with a regional specialization in Turkey. E.B.’s dissertation draws on interviews and archival documents collected during eleven months of fieldwork to explain media politics in Turkey. Her research and language study have been supported by the GW Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies, the Georgetown University Institute of Turkish Studies, and the American Research Institute of Turkish Studies, among others. In total, E.B. has lived in Turkey for 2 years, including a year in Konya as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant.
