Joe Cerrone is a first-year PhD student with research interests in nationalism, ethnic politics, separatist movements, and collective memory formation. He is particularly interested in exploring the impact of the European Union on national identity and the development of nationalist separatist movements, especially in Spain. His interest in European politics developed during his time living and working in Europe—both as an intern at the European Parliament during his undergraduate studies and as an English teacher in Spain after receiving his B.A. in International Relations from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.
