Major- Comparative Politics
Born in Cleveland, Tennessee, Josiah C. Augustine grew up in Bulgaria and the Czech Republic before returning to his hometown where he earned a B.A. summa cum laude in Political Science at Lee University. He entered the Ph.D program at George Washington in the fall of 2015 studying Comparative Politics, particularly interested in the way interactions between political institutions and identity shape political outcomes. Areas of focus involve constitutional design, including specifically electoral formulas, district shape magnitude, strength of legislature and bicameralism, and minority recognition status. In addition, Josiah works as a Teaching Assistant for the department of Political Science at GW.
