Anum Syed is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at the George Washington University, where she also co-directs the Politics and Values Program, a living and learning community on GW's Mount Vernon Campus. Her research sits at the intersection of ethnic politics, migration studies, and minority political behavior, focusing on how social boundaries form and how marginalized groups mobilize for political inclusion. Her book project, "Between Home and Host," explores how transnational ties influence immigrant political engagement, looking at South Asian advocacy against caste-based discrimination in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.
