Professor Bernard Reich was a scholar, author, and educator of Political Science and International Affairs. He earned is B.A. in 1961 at City College of New York before obtaining both his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. He was also the Chairman of Advanced Area Studies (Middle East—Fertile Crescent) at the Department of State’s Foreign Service Institute and a faculty member at the Defense Intelligence College. He served as a consultant to several U.S. government agencies and international organizations, providing insights on Middle Eastern affairs. He passed away on February 23, 2025 at the age of 83. Professor Reich is the author of several books, including Quest for Peace: United States-Israel Relations and the Arab-Israeli Conflict, The United States and Israel: Influence in the Special Relationship; Israel: Land of Tradition and Conflict, and Historical Dictionary of Israel. He is also a co-author, editor, or co-editor of several other books, and the author of numerous articles, book chapters and monographs about Middle East politics, international politics, and United States foreign policy.
