Professor Burton Sapin is credited with initiating the field of US Foreign Policy Studies. After graduating from Columbia University, he served in the Navy at the end of WWII before obtaining his Ph.D. from Princeton University. Sapin was a political scientist and scholar in the field of International Relations. He spent much of his career as Dean of the Elliot School of International Affairs (formerly known as the School of Public and International Affairs). However, he also served at the State Department during the Kennedy Administration. Sapin passed at the age of 93 on December 13, 2020 in Beach Gardens, FL. Read his full obituary here.
