Julia Macdonald received the award for the Best Student Paper “Leadership Beliefs and State Threat Assessments: Saddam Hussein and the Iraq War 2003," which was presented on an Intelligence Studies Section-sponsored panel at the 2015 Annual Convention of the International Studies Association in New Orleans.

- Jessica Anderson has received a Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowship (DPDF) from the Social Science Research Council for the 2013 fellowship year.
- Bret Barrowman has been awarded an Advanced Research Fellowship from the American Councils Title VIII Combined Research and Language Training Program for research and language training in Georgia and the Ukraine.
- Dina Bishara was awarded a fellowship beginning in fall 2013 with the German Institute for International and Security Affairs.
- Lisel Hintz has received a fellowship from the Institute of Turkish Studies. The fellowship will support her in writing her dissertation during the academic year 2014-15.
- Lisel Hintz received a Critical Language Scholarship Alumni Development Fund Award to support her continued study of Turkish. Lisel also received a Hoffman Full-Semester Dissertation Fellowship to fund her field work in Turkey during the Spring 2013 term.
- Abboud Kayyali was awarded the 2014 American Political Science Association Middle East and North Africa Alumni Grant to support his ongoing research.
- Seok Joon Kim (and advisor Alexander Downes) received a National Science Foundation Grant for his project - Doctoral Dissertation in Political Science: Signal Costs and Public Attitudes Toward Foreign Policy.
- Ryan Krog has received a Prestage-Cook Travel Award from the Southern Political Science Association.
- Julia MacDonald was accepted to the German Marshall Fund's Young Strategists Forum in Japan.
- Julia Macdonald was awarded George Washington University's Philip J. Amsterdam Graduate Teaching Award.
- Alyx Mark has received the Philip Dearborn Fellowship Award from The Economic Club of Washington. The fellowship, which is awarded to doctoral candidates studying issues of relevance to the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area, was granted to Alyx for her dissertation project, "Beyond Remedy: Does Civil Legal Assistance Matter for Democratic Governance?"
- Alyx Mark received a grant from the National Science Foundation to support her dissertation research, "Accessing Assistance and Citizen Engagement."
- Christopher Mitchell's dissertation, "Saving the Market from Itself: Bailouts, Nationalizations, and the Politics of Financial Intervention" was awarded this year's Samuel Beer Prize for the best dissertation on British Politics. The prize is given by the British Politics Group of the American Political Science Association.
- Chris Mitchell's paper "Saving the Market From Itself: The Politics of Financial Intervention" won the Top Paper prize at the Old Dominion University Graduate Research Conference.
- Shannon Powers has been selected to serve as an NGO delegate to the 11th Session of the Assembly of States-Parties to the International Criminal Court in The Hague. She is being supported by travel grants through the Council of American Students in International Negotiations, IERES, IGIS, and University Professor Funds.
- Allison Quatrini received a 2013 National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Fellowship.
- Jackie Schneider won third place in the National Intelligence Writing Contest for her essay "Remotely Piloted Aircraft and the Pivot Towards Asia: The Future of Unmanned Aerial Intelligence Collection"
- Jackie Schneider won the Alexander George Award for best graduate student paper, Foreign Policy Analysis Section International Studies Association for her essay "Presidential Decisions for War: Is Intelligence to Blame? Case Studies of Lyndon B. Johnson and George W. Bush."
- Alanna Van Antwerp has been awarded the Critical Language Scholarship for the summer 2013.
- Tristan Volpe has been named a Lawrence Scholar at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL).
- Scott Weiner received a 2013 National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Fellowship.
- Rachel Whitlark has been awarded the Project on Managing the Atom/International Security Program predoctoral research fellowship at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard University.

- Colm Fox won the Indonesia and East Timor Studies Committee award for best graduate paper, which he presented at the Asian Association Society conference.
- Colm Fox was awarded a 2009 Fulbright Language Grant to study Advanced Indonesian in Salatiga, Indonesia.
- Colm Fox was awarded a Matsushita International Foundation grant for research on the impact of decentralization in Indonesia.
- Robert Frenkel received a fellowship in 2010 from the GW Institute for Middle East Studies for Arabic language studies.
- Dan Green received a Soref fellowship from the Washington Institute of Near East Policy.
- Enze Han was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship at the Princeton-Harvard China and the World Program, Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University, for 2010-2011.
- Enze Han was awarded a Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship for 2009-10 to complete his work on the politics of separatism in the People's Republic of China.
- Jake Haselswerdt won the Best Poster on Public Policy Award from the American Political Science Association for his paper, "Procedures and Policy in the Hidden Welfare State: A Comparison of the Survival Rates of Tax Expenditures and Direct Spending Programs."
- Jake Haselswerdt received an award to travel to Boston to attend the Social Science History Association Fiscal Sociology Workshop (travel funding provided by the National Science Foundation).
- Brett Heiney was awarded a Boren Fellowship to China for 2012-13.

- Craig M. Kauffman was awarded the Inter-American Foundations Grassroots Development Fellowship, 2010-2011, for his research on the role of transnational actors in promoting local governance reforms regarding environmental management in Ecuador.
- Craig Kauffman in 2009-2010 was awarded a position as Visiting Research Professor at the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales Sede Ecuador (FLACSO-Ecuador) to support his dissertation research on local watershed management reforms in Ecuador.
- Inwook Kim was awarded a Fellowship at Northeast Asia Economic Forum (NEAEF) for its Young Leaders Program (YLP).

- Daniel Nerenberg was awarded the 2010 Kathryn Davis Fellowship for Peace to study Arabic at the Middlebury College summer intensive program.
- Daniel Nerenberg received a grant from Fonds de recherche sur la socit et la culture (FQRSC) for applied doctoral research assessing the intersection of international and domestic politics in the Middle East (2009-2012).

- Lee Ann Fujii, 2005-2006 Columbian College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Fellowship. This special award, given to only two students in the college, "allow[s] our very best students a year without duties in which to complete their Ph.D. dissertations."
