Professor Harris received her PhD from Virginia Tech in Political Thought 2025, her MA in Political Science from Virginia Tech in 2021, and her BA in Political Science from the College of Wooster in 2019. Her research sits at the intersection of international relations and political theory, exploring how international organizations like the UN conceptualize and implement gender equality initiatives across capacity building projects for security and sustainability. Specifically, Professor Harris's work employs critical feminist, poststructuralist, and postcolonial approaches to explore how international institutions and their constituencies jointly shape objectives and practices of global governance. Currently, she teaches introductions to comparative politics and introduction to international relations, along with the Women's Leadership Symposium for the WLP, along with a variety of political theory and international relations classes for the Honors College and Political Science department. Her scholarly and teaching interests include: international organizations, global governance, critical political theory, security studies, development studies, feminist and gender studies, decolonial studies, political economy, human rights and peacebuilding, humanitarianism and interventionism, and global social movements.
