Marko is a doctoral candidate primarily researching right wing political parties and movements and their effect on the quality and durability of democratic political regimes. His dissertation examines diverging trajectories of center-right political parties in postcommunist Europe and seeks to explain why over time some of them remain committed to liberal politics while others start to vehemently reject it. Marko’s other past and current research projects examine dynamics of ethnic politics and political violence in the Balkans and in the Western Europe. His work has been published in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies and in Research & Politics. Marko holds a master’s degree from the University College London, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Belgrade.
